PEDIATRIC EYE CARE

Children cannot reach their full potential if their eyesight and visual system do not develop fully.   Regular eye screenings and comprehensive eye exams are recommended to ensure that a child’s vision is developing normally throughout infancy into the school age years.    Studies show that many vision problems go undetected until later in childhood when children are at risk for a condition called amblyopia, where the eye does not develop and the vision remains poor in spite of treatment.  Any indication of an eye problem by a parent, teacher, or health care provider, or undiagnosed poor performance in school warrants a referral for a comprehensive eye examination by an eye care professional.  Evidence of eye problems in children include:  blurred vision, eye rubbing, headaches, eye turn, crossed eyes, double vision.
